The ABCs of Sprouting
Tender Green Sprouts Abound
If you love - or know someone who loves Leafy (Alfalfa/Clover type) Sprouts, this is the kit for you - especially if you've never sprouted before.
We have the tastiest mixes ever created - with seeds like onion, arugula, cress and garlic it is hard to go wrong, but we have gone one better by mixing these and other delicious seeds, in perfect proportions, into the best sprouting clover and alfalfa available anywhere!
Yield note: This kit will produce about 15 pounds of sprouts (8 ounces at a time) over time. Alfalfa and Clover yield between 6 and 8 times as much weight in sprouts as in seed. Cool eh?! This also means that the sprouts you produce are costing you less than 70¢ per 5 ounces (the typical weight sprouts are sold in, in stores) even with the cost of the sprouter! The Easy Sprout will last you forever (so future sprouts will be even less expensive ) so this is not only a great introduction to sprouting Leafy Sprouts it is also an introduction to the cost savings related to growing your own. Besides that, these are going to be the freshest sprouts you've ever had - they'll taste better than you ever imagined sprouts could taste and they'll last for weeks and weeks in your refrigerator (unlike store bought sprouts) - AND they're Certified Organic! Sprouting is CooL!
All seeds and mixes in this Kit aresupplied to Sproutpeople by farmers who are Certified Organic!

Print the instructions
that come WITH this kit
for an 8 ounce crop:
1. Easy Sprout: Snap the Small Seed Insert into the bottom of the Growing container. Put 2 Tablespoons of seed into the Easy Sprout Growing container. Rinse the seed by running cool water through it for about 30 seconds. Place the Growing container into the Solid base. Add 1/2 - 1 cup cool (60-70°) water. Mix seeds up to assure even water contact. Soak for 8-12 hours.
2. Remove Growing container. Rinse thoroughly with cool water by holding Growing container under faucet, or by spraying. Drain thoroughly by shaking, spinning and bouncing (against the side of your sink) the Growing container. Return Growing container to Solid Base. Place Domed Lid on top between Rinses. Set anywhere out of direct sunlight and at room temperature (70° is ideal).
3. Rinse and Drain (repeat step 2) every 8-12 hours for 5-6 days.
4. On the 4th day relocate your sprouts (if necessary*) to a well-lighted location, for greening. Avoid direct sun as it can cook your sprouts. Experiment - you will be amazed at how little light sprouts require to green up. Continue to Rinse and Drain every 8-12 hours.
5. Your last Rinse/Drain will be either at the end of day 5 or the start of day 6.
In any case you may de-hull your sprouts at that time if you wish.
Your sprouts will be done about the end of Day 6.
They will have green leaves, you will certainly recognize them.
6. Refrigerate your sprouts when no longer damp - 8-12 hours after their last Rinse/Drain.
* We keep our Easy Sprout in the center of our rather dimly lit kitchen. The 150 watts of incandescent light and the very little indirect sunlight is plenty to get them green. All the sprouts other than those in the center of the mass will green, nothing special is required it just happens.
Note: Around day 4 your sprouts will near fill the container. You may pull the mass apart gently with a fork to improve drainage and give more of the sprouts access to light. You can fill the container with water to make the process a bit easier. This is not essential it’s just an option.

We only use the phone for emergencies.
Back in 2001 we were still using the phone. One day I was talking to a long-time customer while pushing my (then 4 year old) daughter on the swing in our backyard (this is what a mom n' pop business is like on the internet). It dawned on me that my priorities were severely messed up, so I stopped using the phone. I love to talk and I love to help, but my family would never see me if I picked up the phone again, and that's just wrong don't you think?!
The very best way to contact us is through E-mail =:-)
We are quite fast and VERY thorough. We love to help.
We have been an internet only business since 2001. We are not a big corporation. We are but 2 people, Mom n' Pop Sprout. We decided after years of juggling our family's (kids, dogs, cats and even our own) needs, and the needs of Sproutpeople, that we had to make more time for our kids, so we stopped talking on the phone. All calls go to voice mail and have since 2001.
We are very fast to fill orders and answer e-mail, and though we wish we could make the time to talk, we just can't seem to get more minutes into a each hour. We are many years older than when we started and our days are too short and made up of too few hours to do everything. This limitation in our business has not kept us from pleasing our customers, nor from growing (as we have every year since 1993). We do what we do as well as we can, and we think we do it very well indeed.
We appreciate your patronage more than we can say. We ask that you use the phone for emergencies only and that you search our site for answers before e-mailing us. This site is bigger than any 4 sprout books put together, it is always available and it is free, and we know that almost all questions are answered here.
Thanks again for your support and your many kind words.
